The Google Agency Partner Program for Kenya was launched at the Vila Rosa Kempinski Hotel on Thursday 17th Oct. 2013. The program was launched during a two days training course on Digital Advertising using Google AdWords that attracted more than 70 participants. Ad agencies from across the country were trained by Google experts from Kenya, Dublin, Croatia and Germany. The Google team comprised of specialists from Google offices across the world. These included Rosemary Momanyi of Google Kenya, Goetz Trillhaas from Germany office, Siebe Gerbranda of Dublin Ireland Office and Ivana Grbavac from Croatia office.
A team of faculty staff from Strathmore University and @iLabAfrica attended the launch and training on digital advertising using Google AdWords. These will become the trainers at the @iLabAfrica Digital Advertising Academy set to be launched later on this year. Dr. Joseph Sevilla, the director of @iLabAfrica could not hide his joy and great expectations about this great initiative that will see Strathmore University become the first in Kenya and the African region to incorporate Digital Advertising in teaching curriculum. “@iLabAfrica has always aimed to be at the latest in technology and we have been seeing the lack of locally relevant digital advertising content. This partnership with Google will see us train experts in digital advertising who will fill this gap”
The training covered Introduction to AdWords, Google’s digital advertising technology. Participants were taken through a step-by-step process of how to run a digital advertising campaign using AdWords. Quizzes and inspiring videos from Google were presented at various intervals of the training, which kept the participants alert and interested. The training was part of the preparation to sit for the Google Certified Partner Fundamentals Exam.
