@iLabAfrica, the Centre of Excellence in ICT Research and Entrepreneurship in Strathmore University will mark another great milestone on the 19th of June 2014 when it will officially be launched. The Centre was founded in 2011 and has come of age as a technology and research hub of great repute in Kenya and Africa.
Over the years, the Centre has curved a niche in developing technological skills and promoting youth entrepreneurship through business incubation. We have implemented projects with high social and economic impact in collaboration with industry partners, and built human capacity in various sectors of the economy. At @iLabAfrica we endeavor to provide students with facilities and training in the latest technologies to help them innovate. Our academic and professional courses are tailored to respond to current needs in the market, with an emphasis on hand-on skills.
As we celebrate these achievements and look into the future, the launch could not have come at a better time. Strathmore University recently celebrated the 50th year anniversary and @iLabAfrica strengthens its positions as an outcome driven research and entrepreneurial university. We believe the Centre through its various programs and research projects will also play a great role in moving the country forward towards achieving the Kenya Vision 2030 and the UN millennium development goals.
